What should I do if I am experiencing side effects?

Responses to messages may take up to 2 business days. We will work with you to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and adjust your meds if necessary.

Can you diagnose depression, anxiety, ADHD, and insomnia online?

Yes. Diagnosing mental health conditions online is just as accurate as diagnosing in-person. The same clinical guidelines and tools are used in-person and remotely. How do I track my progress?

Our program is built to help you see your progress over time. You’ll work with your prescriber and/or therapist to build a personalized treatment plan. About once a month, we’ll also send you a regular mental health assessment to check in about how you’re feeling. You can keep track of your results of these assessments over time in the Progress section of your account.

Stopping these medications suddenly or without consulting your prescriber first may result in withdrawals or other negative side effects.

We do not currently prescribe controlled substances.

Can I use insurance to cover the cost of my medication?

If you get your medication shipped through CerebralRx, our pharmacy does not accept insurance to cover the cost of medication at this time.

We do accept HSA or FSA cards as your primary payment method, which may help cover some or all of the cost of medication. Medication through CerebralRx can cost up to 80% less than what you would pay out of pocket at national retail pharmacies.

If you pick up your medication at a local pharmacy, you should contact your insurance provider to see what your plan covers.

When will I see the antidepressants take effect?

On average, antidepressants take a noticeable effect in about 6 weeks. Your doctor will work with you to determine an appropriate medication and discuss how long it may take to notice an effect. Everyone responds to medication differently and you can work with your prescriber to make any adjustments to your treatment over time.

If I have severe generalized anxiety or panic disorder, will Cerebral prescribe Xanax (alprazolam) or Klonopin (Clonazepam)?

No. Cerebral does not prescribe controlled substances like Xanax (alprazolam) or Klonopin (Clonazepam) at this time.

We do prescribe other medications that have been shown to be effective in reducing  symptoms for many people with severe anxiety or panic disorders — including Prozac (fluoxetine), Zoloft (sertraline) or Effexor (venlafaxine). When clinically appropriate, we also recommend behavioral therapy for people experiencing these conditions.

Can I get Clonidine prescribed online?

Yes, if our prescribers find it to be clinically appropriate for you. Our qualified prescribers can assess if Clonidine fits your needs or explore other options with you.

With Cerebral’s affordable online medication management plans, you get:
• Online evaluations with licensed prescribers
• Free, fast shipping (if using CerebralRx)
• Check-ins to track treatment

With ongoing support, your prescriber can help you with any necessary adjustments, too.

How long will I have to stay on medication?

Length of treatment will depend on many factors. The goal is to provide you with the right amount of care for the right amount of time it takes for you to feel better.

You will work closely with your prescriber to determine a medication, dose, and regimine — and then make any necessary adjustments over time. Each person is different, and long-term options may be more appropriate for some people than others. Combining therapy with medication may also help you see more improvement in your mental health and affect your length of treatment.

Addressing mental health concerns is not always a linear process, and support at Cerebral is available for as long as you need it.

How long does it take for Hydroxyzine to work?

Hydroxyzine (Vistaril) works quickly to alleviate anxiety symptoms — typically, you can expect to start feeling calmer within as little as 30-60 minutes. This makes it particularly useful for acute anxiety episodes or situations where you need fast relief.

However, your provider might recommend additional treatments or therapies for long-term anxiety management.

What is Trazodone used to treat?

Because it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and allows for more of that 'feel-good' chemical to remain available in your brain, Trazodone (Desyrel) is primarily used to treat depression.

Besides its primary use for depression, Trazodone may also be prescribed for anxiety, and insomnia. Its calming effects can ease anxiety symptoms and improve sleep quality, which can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle to sleep due to racing thoughts or chronic pain.
